CV

Helmut Dick is an Amsterdam based German artist whose practice includes different disciplines. He works with video, photography, sculptures, installations, performances and site-specific projects.

In his most recent work Dick explores the role of plants in relation to the contemporary human culture. A core focus is how we use this life form in our thinking and in our present day acting in order to express and characterize ourselves. This is also considered in relation to the complex philosophical concerns of nature and the living.

Dick has shown his projects and works internationally at exhibitions, film festivals, in public space or lectures. Among others the Biennale Krasj 4 in Ninove, Belgium and KHOJ studios in New Delhi, India (public space), the Photoforum Pasquart in Biel- Bienne, Switzerland and the Bonner Kunstverein, Germany (exhibitions), Chelsea College / University of the Arts London, England and the Shanghai Music Academy, China (lectures), the International Short Film Festival in Uppsala, Sweden and the Moscouw International Film Festival, Russia (film festivals).
